The Ballad of Mona Lisa

Oh my yes. I am incredibly excited about Vices and Virtues (which, to be honest, the album name scared me into thinking this initial thought). I remember the band mentioning several times that the influences for the record would come from all over the place (ie. Kinks and Sinatra wut?) but so far the band has solely proven to mimic the sound of A Fever You Can't Sweat Out (along with some other slightly similar influences that they did not mention). But overall, I think that this album will prove more popular in general and gain back the love and compassion of their former bandwagon listeners, which isn't a bad thing I guess. I also think that it will make the band lose some listeners, whom may have already latched onto The Young Veins if they were into the more hippy-style (for lack of better words) that Pretty. Odd. evoked.

This song also restored my faith in Brendon's lyric writing (Spencer openly admitted that Brendon wrote a majority if not all of the lyrics). As everyone knows, New Perspective, was considered one of the fans' least favourite written song (which honestly, should have been expected if you're comparing it to Ryan's impeccable writing ability). I for one understood the message that was deeply deeply DEEPLY embedded within the lyrics of New Perspective (I promise, it's not a song about blow-jobs) which I ranted about on Buzznet when Buzznet was cool.

I think that The Ballad of Mona Lisa is about a relationship in which the man is wealthy and busy with work and earning more money and the woman is desperate for attention (L O L) (oh my exclamation point, I am using so many links).

Umm but yea, what was I talking about? My memory.

So yes. Good song. Excited for March 22nd. I will probably just be freaking out all day long, listening to the songs over and over and over and over again.

Oh! And before I forget, my good friend Tommy covered the song in his music making class and I think it's wonderful and fun to sing along to! So check that out.

Alright. I'm indifferent. We're irrelevant.
